Monday we drove Bristol ME to Pemaquid Island, the Lighthouse. We departed Topsham at 10 am and the trip was one and a half hours. We may have made a wrong turn or two. The first thing to do was get lunch. What a sight we found.
The foundations are from buildings first built in the 1700's.
We have a great view of the harbor.
When there is an old settlement they also have a graveyard. Graves from the 1700's.
The fort to protect from the indians worked until they refused to sell the Indians gun powder. The Indians burned the village to the ground.
The Pemaquid Lighthouse and Keepers Cabin.
The crew out on the rocks.
A nice setting at the rocks.
We then drove an hour down the coast, or was it up the coast, to "Estes Lobster House".
We allowed Sylvia to ate also.
The service and meal were good. Great even.
We then walked across the road to the beach for fooling around.
Dortha also.
The traps are on the lawn. Do you think a fisherman lives here?
That's all for Monday.
