return to Monson, MA

Labor Day and we are on the road Northeast toward Monson, MA. We stayed in Lickdale Campground, Jonestown, PA. The hurricane Lee was chasing us up the coast, we arrived in Monson Tuesday afternoon with all the winds and rain. The reason for the hurry is that Sylvia has an appointment in Holyoke Hospital for a pre-operation visit. The Mammogram results of Two weeks ago showed an abnormality. The biopsy confirmed the growth and we made the decision to have it removed. We wanted to be with Scott for his promotion to LCDR. We had the operation delayed till after the Labor day Weekend. Sunday we spent the day with our family here in Chicopee, MA. Monday morning we were up at 5:30 so that we can walk the dogs and have time to be in Holyoke Hospital by 7:00 am. Sylvia was prepped and sent for another Mammogram to verify the location. Sylvia was taken to surgery about 10:30. She was returned to recovery by 11:00am and released to go home before noon. Today, Wednesday, Sylvia is resting (includes doing a wash). She is having some pain, but has some good pain relievers. We will be in Monson till the Doctor visits are complete and we have good weather to once again head South by Southwest.

Scott's Promotion

Today our Son Scott is promoted to the rank of Lt. Commander in the Navy. Sylvia and I came to Charlottesville, VA to watch the proceedings. Well after the official words were spoken, Scott asked me to place the rank boards on his shoulders. That was a great honor for a humble retired Carpenter. With the ceremonies completed, we all stopped to EAT and drive up the hills to a wine tasting. A great day here with our Son and his family.
