Saturday 12-13-08

Friday we packed up and moved to Decatur, Al. The trip was in clear weather. There was a traffic incident just South of Birmingham that slowed us for about 45 minuets. Other than that the trip was uneventful.
Last night, with the heat on electric heat pump, the temperature outside dropped to 28 degrees. The heat pump stopped making heat. We woke up to inside temperatures of 65 degrees. I changed the heat over to gas and all was well.
Saturday I checked the propane gas level and discovered the gauge read 1/3 of a tank. We packed up and went for propane. I should have checked the levels prior to the move. More lessons learned.
After we were setup again, we drove to Glenn Jr's. I helped Glenn work on his car while Sylvia and Lana went shopping. We had dinner and good conversation. We r3eturned to the RV about 8 pm.
Point Mallard Campground is a large campground and well laid out. The host site is well decorated for Christmas. That is a nice touch.
That's it for now.

11 Dec. Daleville, Al

We survived the rain storms! We received about 11 inches of rain in a two day period. We got up to water on the floor at 5: am this morning. After the cleanup, we had breakfast and waited for the rain to stop so that the source of the leak could be found. The crank up TV antenna has a coax that enters the roof via a boot. When I looked at the boot this morning I discovered that the boot was pulled up allowing water to enter. I walked across the street to the Auto Parts store and got silicone adhesive to repair the boot. Hopefully this will stop the water. The later rains today did not cause a leak.
This evening Glenn Jr., Sylvia, and I went to "Ruby Tuesday's" for dinner. The ocassion was my birthday.
We are now all set for the trip to Decatur, Al. We will be there for about 3 weeks. It may be better to stay for the month depending upon the park fee rates.
Pictures today are from the campsite in Daleville. We are close to Glenn Jr's camper but it is for only 4 days.
Until next time.

The soup mix made a great with our son. Glenn Jr is a computer expert for the Army here in Ft. Ruker Al.
Wednesday, we woke up to rain and a tornado watch. The plan is to go to the laundry building if the siren sounds.
Evening now. The rain stopped and I walked the dogs. Glenn Jr stopped for a dinner of chicken and dumplings. Sylvia does a great job with that.

Daleville, Al

This morning we packed up and moved to Daleville, Al.After dumping the waste tanks we left the Eastbank Campground about 10 am. The drive was 88 miles and we were here at 12 am. Glenn Jr was having lunch at his camper when we arrived. He helped us get spotted in the campsite then had to return to work. After the setup and cleanup, we drove to Walmart to get groceries and material to cover the dash while parked as the dogs seem to spend a lot of time there.
Tonight Glenn Jr joined us for a dinner of fried chicken. While here he also set up the Wireless router to operate the air card. That will allow both of us to be online at the same time with one air card. Works great.
We expect to be here until Friday then we will move to Decatur, Al. and will be there till after Christmas.

Sunday 12-07-08

December 7. Sylvia had a bad night. She has back pain that sometimes is almost crippling. Last night she had the neat pad with her most of the night. This morning I made breakfast and cleaned up. After her shower, things seemed better.
Today I topped off the air in the motor home and car tires. Tomorrow I will have to clean off the slide toppers in preparation of the move.
Our neighbor has a "Tin Man" as a yard ornament. There were about 8 of us out in the camp road admiring and discussing the "tin Man". Interesting decoration made from metal cans. I have included a picture.

Dec 5. We drove East today to tour the area. We found lots of farming and woods. The area is remote. We returned home and spent the rest of the day relaxing. The sunset was terrific. Sylvia has several pictures.
Today we were up early and prepared to attend the "Florida Caverns" in Marianna, Fl. This State park is a great show with a good guide. The tour was about 1 1/2 hours long with lots of pictures. The temperatures inside are a constant 65 degrees.

Dec 4

Dec 3 we drove to Marianna, Fl to the Florida Caverns. The tours were not running today. We took pictures of the rocks on the road to the campground. This is a possible camp site for a future trip.
What a great day, temperatures in the high 60's, and this evening no rain. Today we went to Sneads, Fl. to wash the clothes. When we returned I got the buffer out and began a wax job on the RV. Of course I did not finish today, this is at least a 3 day job.
The campground getting more campers every day. The normal is for campers to arrive mid week and stay for the week. We expect to leave on Monday Dec.8 and drive to Daleville, Al. to spend some time with Glenn Jr.
Long range travel includes Christmas in Huntsville, Al. and return to Summerdale, Al for New Years. Next year we expect to go into Texas. Plans are uncertain at this point.

Camping on the Chattahoochee

Monday we extended at the Hanna Park, I needed medicine and Sylvia needed groceries. We took the dogs out to the beach and walked for about 1 and 1/2 hours. We needed the rest from all the visiting.
Tuesday, we left Hanna Park by 10: am. We arrived here in Lake Seminole at 3:15 Eastern time, or 2:15 central time. The traffic was light and the roads good.
Our site here is looking at the Lake threw the windshield. An assume site. There are about 8 campers in the campground with 60 sites available.
Pictures are Jacksonville beaches and Lake Seminole Campground.
Lake Seminole is on the Chattahoochee River formed by the "Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam"
