South Padre Island

Mark and Dortha picked us up and we traveled to South Padre Island. We stopped in Harlingen, Tx to visit the Marine Museum.

We drove out to the beach, played on the sand, and of course waded in the surf.

You just have to stop at Port Isabel Lighthouse.

We had a great time on the Island.
We attended a dinner at the campground. They had Valentine Baskets to auction. Glenn won this one.

This tree, located in the campground, has many spikes. We do not know what kind of tree, but it is interesting.

Mission, TX Oleander acres and a Mission.

Friday evening The Creek Family performed here at Oleander Acres. The music was "Blue Grass and Gospel. They are great and put on a good show.

Saturday, The rain has stopped. We visited "Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle National Shrine" located in San Juan, TX. The mission originated in Mexico.

Mass is held in the church daily and we did not enter for pictures.
We stopped at "Camping World" on the way home and bought a roll up table. Some of the campgrounds do not have picnic tables. Now we will have a place to eat outside at a table.

Mission, TX

Feb 2 we departed Mustang Island and headed Southwest to Mission, Tx. Mission is in the lower Rio Grand Valley. We are camped in "Oleander Acres" RV Park, Mission.
Mark and Dortha Hall stopped by and we went out to diner. We had a great time and conversation. Friday Morning Mark stopped by, picked up Glenn and met with a man's group for breakfast. Thank you Mark for a great time.

Sunday the weather turned cool, temps in the 60's. We drove around the area looking at the sites. We found Capilla De La Lomita. A mission from 1861.

We are getting better acquainted with our surroundings,We can locate the grocery store and post office without the GPS. All we need now is for the warm 80 deg. weather to return.
