North Carolina

Sunday we headed South to North Carolina. Travel was by routs I-81, and I-77. We crossed the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The scenery still looks great, good looking farms in this area.

The State line. We stopped to gather information.

These cars passed us. They looked great.

We found the town of "Hiddenite", NC and the campground. The reason for the stop, to mine "Gems" in the "Hiddenite Mine". The campground was 1 mile down a gravel road. We camped out in the country, no satellite(in the trees),no TV signal on the antenna, Very poor Verizon phone service. We did have a stream near the campsite.

Monday we Mined for "Gems". We found some great prospects. Don't believe we will ge rich with the finds, but we had a blast.
Miniature horses are near the campground.

Monday Glenn called Doug of http://www.mytripjournal.com/ourdream, to inform them that we would see them Tuesday afternoon.
We are now camped in "Miles Motors Campground" in Swannanoa, NC. Just East of Asheville, NC.
Doug & JoAnn met us and of course we had to go eat. We had a great lunch at "12 Bones Smokehouse" in Asheville. The food is fantastic and the prices low.
This evening we chatted and had some of JoAnn's pie.

What a lovely little place. Do you have a name for the campground? I like to mark interesting places like this on my list of places to see next time we are in the area.
