Thursday was our last full day in Lake Corpus Christi Srate Park. The deer came by for a visit.
This little fellow was in a tree just outside of our window.
The sunsets over the lake are pretty.
The trip to Mustang Island was uneventful. When we arrived we discovered that they did have a space for us. We all walked to the beach. The wind is high. Guess that is part of being in South Texas.
The town of Port Aransas is 13 miles from the campground. We drove there to locate the Post Office and just look around. We took the ferry to Aransas Pass.
The ferry crosses the shipping channel. This ship is coming into Corpus Christi.
The wind is still high, we took the dogs to the beach.
Sylvia wanted the dogs to go wading with her but they had nothing to do with that water.
We had to wade alone.
A storm was coming and the sunset was great.
Tuesday we drove to the USS Lexington CV 16. Built in Fore River Shipyard,Quincy Mass.
The propeller is from a smaller ship, Still a big Prop.
This is on the Elevator, where you enter the ship.
The Lexington is setup as a war memorial.
The living quaters are in Officer Country. The crew has much less space.
This is the machine shop with lots of Lathes and milling machines.
The pharmacy.
The operating room.
Damage control area.
A Tomcat sitting on the Catapult
The Bridge where the Captain could look over all operations.
This is where the steering wheel and engine order telegraph are located.
Just aft of the bridge is the Captain's sea Cabin.
The escalator leads from the flight deck to the Hanger bay, bu twas not functional today.
We were able to walk to the car and return home.
Till later. LIG RVLIB
