King Ranch, Texas

Thursday Sylvia and I toured the King Ranch. The ranch is located South of Alice, about 50 miles from Mathis, TX where we are camped. This was the name prior to 1890.

Mathis, TX Tuesday 1/10/12

This evening we drove to the waters edge to take pictures after Supper. The roofed structures all have tables,  Some are for picnic and some are campsites,  All near the water.

Lake Corpus Christi State Park

Each morning and evening, we have visitors at our campsite here. They usually show up about 8 am and 6 pm. That gives us lazy campers time to get up and have the camera ready.

Friday, Sylvia and I drove to the City to look at Mustang Island and a possible campsite. The Veterans Memorial Highway .

We looked at a possible campsite in Laguna Shore Resort, They are full now but that can change by the time we leave the State Park. This plane was in the beach area.

The campsites here are water and Electric and they have a dump station. This could be good for a couple of nights. This is just off the beach.
This bird seened to have only one leg, as it hopped on one leg. After we had the pictures it lowered the other leg and ran along the surf.

Lake Corpus Christi, TX

Tuesday morning we pulled out of Junction, TX and drove South where it is Warmer. We are camped Lake Corpus Christi State Park with full hookups for the next two weeks. Our site is on the edge of a picnic area and Deer visit the area every morning and evening.

Today as Glenn was cooking on the grill, the Turkey Buzzards were roosting in a tree near by.

Weather today was cooler than the past couple of days.. Won't complain because the temperatures are in the 70's.
Lake Corpus Christi is near the town of Mathis, TX about 35 miles North of Corpus Christi on I-37.
Stay warm up there in the cold country.

Junction, Texas

Dec 30 we departed Lubbock and the cold weather.We had an uneventful trip South to Junction, TX. The KOA had changed to a "Good Sam Camp". This is our site, nice and roomy.

The patio is shaded and has rockers. The temperature was 80 at 3 pm.

The park has Ducks. Each evening they return to the park from the river around 6 pm.

We expect to leave here Jan 3, headed South to the Corpus Cristy area. The exact location has not been chosen.
