Christmas 09

Merry Christmas to all.
This is the first year that Sylvia and I have had Christmas Dinner without being at a member of our family's Place. We are at "The Rainbow Plantation" in Summerdale, AL. The dinner was fantastic. The park supplied the "Ham,or Turkey" the remainder was furnished by the RVers that attended.

Ham Dinner

Friday morning Glenn talked to another Ham on the 2 mtr repeater. Glenn found their website and discovered that the "Christmas Party" was Friday evening. Glenn called the club president and was invited to attend.

Sunday we had "Lunch" at the "Magnolia Court" restaurant in Foley, AL.

The sun was out bright and early this morning.We have had 12 inches of rain in the past 2 days. There were flash floods and roads washed out. Much of this was in Town's about 35 miles North of our location in Summerdale, AL.
Today the clean up is in motion, Stores, Schools, and businesses are all affected.

Rainbow Plantation, where we are located, had some sites flooded during the rain. The water receded quickly when the rain stopped. Our car was in a puddle about 2 inches deep.

Last evening was a potluck dinner. About 40 campers braved the rain. The food and conversation were great.
Things are returning to normal.

Sunday, after the rain, the sky's are clearing. We did not venture outside Saturday. Sylvia was having sever back pain. She relaxed on the bed and heating pad.

This is hours after the rain. The water was out to the road during the storm.
Sylvia seems better today, so we may do a little sight seeing.

Rainbow Plantation, Summerdale, AL

Thursday we moved to The Rainbow Plantation in Summerdale, AL. We are located about half way between Mobil, AL and Pensacola, FL.
The weather is much warmer than it was in Athens. Daytime temperatures are in the 50's and night times in the high 30's and low 40's. This is during a cold snap. Normal temperatures would be in the mid 60's.
The park is having a Christmas Dinner. We will bring the side dishes while the park will provide the Ham, Cooked.
Every Sunday evening at 6 pm is the ice cream social where you meet everyone and of course eat ice cream. By the way you do not need to eat ice cream.
Today was wash day and I did not take pictures. Maybe tomorrow.

Rain Athens, AL

Tuesday and rain. We woke up to rain this morning, and the forecast is for rain all day and high winds this evening.
This will be a great day to do laundry and mall walking.

Well, it's now evening and the high winds are here. We are also under a flash flood warning for this county. We are on high ground so that will not be a worry. The heavy rains and winds let you know what is happening outside. We will run the slides in at bed time just in case the 60 mph winds do come as forecast.

The bill was paid, after taking 2 1/2 hours to unravel the insurance and extended warranty paperwork. We left Red Bay Repair Campground at 11:30, headed East toward Athens, AL. We are in the Northgate RV-Travel Park site A-6.

Repairs completed.

Today the repairs to the Motor Home are completed. Tomorrow we will pay the bill and head to Athens, AL. We expect to be in "Northgate RV - Travel Park. The park is off RT-65 in Athens, AL. We will be about 12 miles from our son Glenn Jr. That will give him a chance to look at Sylvia's computer.
Now we can get on with the relaxed life style.

Early Sunday---Colinda

My phone rang at 7 am. Cloinda,Teena, and Henry were at the rest stop on Rt 78 at the Mississippi line. Teena and Henry decided to go on to Little Rock to avoid heavy traffic in the Memphis area. Colinda arrived at the campground here in Red Bay about 7:30. She is in site 17.

Sylvia had a pot roast on all day in the crock pot. We had a great dinner and conversation.
We begin another week of waiting for the paint shop.

Thanksgiving in KY

Wednesday evening, we drove to Glenn Jr's in Madison, AL. Sylvia made a chicken'n'dumplins along with her favorite, Brownies with frostin.
Thanksgiving morning we drove to Haydenville, KY to enjoy dinner with Lana's sister and family. Lana's Mom, Dad, and Grandmother were also there. We had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Two thirty a group went into the woods for target practice. We had 12 guns of various calibers, rifles and pistols. We may have shot off about 150 rounds. Collecting the cases for reloads sometimes was a challenge as the grass was long. We returned before dark, in time for dessert.

Friday we drove home to Glenn Jr's, stopping in Nashville at a mall. The mall was packed, but this is the season. We stayed at Glenn Jr's Friday night. The dogs were very excited to be with us as a neighbor had agreed to come over and let them out and feed them.
We are now in Red Bay, AL. We expect to see "Colinda" Sunday evening .

We are now waiting for the paint shop. The back-up there seems to be a constant problem.
Jimmy said today that we may not get into the shop till after Thanksgiving.
At least the rent is cheap.

Car problems.

Today we drove to Florence, AL to shop at the "Malls" We shopped at JCPennys, and Sears. When Glenn tried to start the car, it would not turn over. Later it did start and we drove into the sears auto shop. Test indicated that the Starter was bad.. A new starter and a light wallet and we were on our way.
Glenn did buy two new pair of trousers.
Tomorrow we are up early as the rig must be at "Bay Diesel" by 7:am.

Today, Friday, the rig is in Bay 33.
Tonight the Awning is repaired, the new awning is on the dinning room windows, The damaged door around the water heater is replaced, the right side camera is replaced.
The two windows in the hall have glass separation and will be replaced Monday.
This weekend we will be visiting our Son and his family in Madison, Al, about 100 miles East on Red Bay.

Veterns Day 09

Thank You to all who have served in the armed forces, past or present.
We continue to wait here in Red Bay. The insurance and extended warranty have been notified.

Sylvia and I drove to Tishomingo State Park this afternoon. This is located in North East Mississippi, 18 miles from Red Bay, AL.
